G’day Adrian, that turned out a nice job. I’ve finally seen the light! 🏍️🇦🇺
Ha! Funny man. Haven’t seen you for a while now Jerry’s closed on Sundays.
Very nice. I do enjoy your creative projects. Well done!
Thanks mate. Appreciate you commenting
Love it, must try that. Shame there isn't a way to cut the lid locator piece from the piece cut from the inside as it is the right size and shape. Thanks for sharing.
Yes can’t be done as the blade cut width makes it too sloppy a fit.
can you share which band blade you were using?
It comes with two blades which are just as good as the Milwaukie blades I have also used.
Amazing thanks
Great video, especially because the actual time it took was shown in the cutting of the metal.
This style of tap wrench is deceptively complex. It makes sense to make a proper detail drawing to catch the fit and proportions. I made a series of 3 wrenches of this design from small to large and purposely did not include knurling on the "working" ends of the handles. The idea being that I did not want to be holding onto a file. If you do any amount of heavy tapping you will quickly understand why. A pretty good first effort all the same.
Thank mate. Good observation on the knurling.
Put a block on backside of vise to cut short stuff
Yeah I have the same one and it doesn't take no where near that long
Currently a machining student and had this idea to make a chess set, so glad others before me thought of it and showed that its possible
I’ve got one its got a mig plug but i have no mig gun in kit, but it deceased step father i just inherited, anyone know how to MIG welder is a seperate roller i have to buy or whats the go? Ive got standard house 10amp so will find out if it needs 15amp or not.
Not very precise but okay in a pinch. I prefer the lathe gauges from Edge tools, not that expensive but much more accurate than I can do by eye.
You did a great job on that little table. Very simple and strong!
Very nice! I gonna make one.....
Nice build. I share your joy in creating from scrap and making it your own.
I cut my finger nail in half with a band saw about 50 years ago. I use a push stick now.
Yes. Good practice. But where is the fun when there is no danger? 🤔
What is a 'guage'?
Woops. Yes another example of poor education 😢 Fixed thanks.
Great video - thank you! And your voice took me straight back to Hey Hey! :)
The electric motor heresy
Ha! So true.
thanks for review. I'm planning to buy Vervor silent air compressor 50L. that is why am watching this video. than I've slow down to be sure the 50L version is also not slow like this. thanks for great video dear. have a great day
Put a similar diameter piece in the other end of the vice. It will clamp tight then.
Hi, I will add to my comments. Your design is the most practical I have seen. I, like you, find that as the band saw is always available I use it very often. No more faffing about. I put velcro around the switch with a cord looped over the top mount and a piece of dowel on the end. I simply pull the dowel and the velcro comes off the swirch. Good for emergency stopping. Thankyou again. Good clear video and easy to hear your words (thanks to no music). Aussie Mal.
Thanks mate. And a good tip re the switch
Perfect first job on my new lathe.
I have just made a copy of your band saw stand for my Vevor. I used felt/carpet like you did and a Velcro strap for extra security at the handle. Just starting on the table. Thankyou for this practical design. ( my TIG welds are not as neat as yours! )
Good to hear mate. I’ve been amazed how much I use it, now it’s sitting there and available.
Гарно ❤,а де можна знайти креслення на таке диво
Sorry - No drawings available. I designed this myself and it’s a one-off.
What is the price of this machine
Price? It depends where you live. Just do a google search.
@@ShedBuiltStuff ok sir thanks for your guidance
I just paid $170 US at Vevor with a $5 discount coupon.
I paid $166 US
That is just fan-bloody-tastic! Lucky b*st*rd Noman 😎
Easy. Just the way I like it.
Nice work, I was yelling out leave gluing that bottom bit until you have fitted the top, but you weren't listening were you! 😁
Thought I heard something … but as I’m an idiot I ignored it.
Great video pal im just starting to get into the tig and looking at a variant of your machine.
Thanks for the reply. Great design.
Are there plans available for the mining clock?
Sorry - no. It’s a one-off of my design.
How loud is the lathe?
Don’t understand the question. It’s very quiet when not being used.
@@ShedBuiltStuff I'm just wondering how loud it would be if I were to run it in my house workshop? I'm assuming it's no louder than using a circular saw?
@skaus2184 - arrrr right. Much less loud than a saw. In fact if it’s cutting correctly it’s pretty quiet, even on stainless.
I’ve been thinking of buying a portable band saw and your stand has sold me on the idea. Great job.
Thanks mate.
Neat build
Yeah I bought the 185 about 6 months ago for car fab more than enough for me as I learn steel is pretty good, need practice on the Aluminum, very fun to be able to do it, thank you for your video
I would be proud of all that
Thanks mate. Yes I am too
It isn't particularly difficult to harden that drill bit. Run it under a torch until its glowing brightly and quickly dunk it in oil, making sure to swirl it around to avoid bubbles and uneven cooling. Now its hardened. but it will be too hard (brittle). Heat it again but this time slowly. Just until you see it start to get a gold color to it and then stop and let it cool naturally. Now its hardness range is good for a punch.
A couple of hints with your acrylic, after sanding your edges you can flame polish the edges with a touch and they will come up clear. Also if scratch it (acrylic always scratches) an automotive scratch polish remover will buff out the scratches well.
Good tips. Thanks
G’day Adrian, productive time spent in “the shed”. I was thinking a valve stem could be a possibility? Avoid the sodium filled variety. At 3.50 there is a metal lubrication pot that looks interesting, what stories it could tell? 🏍🇦🇺
Quite often the bottom of drill bits have not been hardened so your chuck can grab them - ever tried carbide in a drill chuck!! Great project. God bless
Good point. Thanks
Should be able to harden the drill with a torch and oil, then a slight temper.
@ToBeeOrNotToBeHoney - arrrr good tip. Thanks
Nice
What thickness cable did you use?
1mm stainless cable.
Grate
Saw your vid about a year ago, now just stumbled upon it again! Good thing too since i now have a scroll saw, you inspired me to make something in this style, so cheers mate. If i have the time, i will film it and make something special, hopefully done before autumn:)
Good one you. Wish you all the best with your project.
Great video, well done as a beginner. Still have the 185? How are you liking the welder? Reliable, any issues??
Still going strong. Still loving it. Had zero problems with it. Very glad I bought it.
Thanks for the update and positive feed back, it's time to get one for myself. @@ShedBuiltStuff
I have to admit I find myself pretty much in the same position you were in, having bought the handheld version of the saw last year, I am finding it to be a fantastic tool - wish I had bought this version of it right off the bat. But my old electric hacksaw is still working well, and I have a few blades for it sitting in the cupboard, I'll wear them out first before getting one of these, (nearly 40 bucks each for those suckers!) But one of these is definitely on my gunna list!
I have a little fixture plate I use in my electric hacksaw for clamping down small items that won't hold with the standard vice. The existing vice holds the fixture plate, and the small item is clamped to the fixture plate.
G'day Adrian, thanks for the demo of the Vevor band saw mate. It looks ideal for what you need in the shed to make the jobs easier, and having the right tool for each job is a safety plus too. Best regards to you and Wendy.
Thanks mate. Haven’t seen you at Jerry’s for a while. They open again on 29th Jan.
I’ve been fretting for Dalmore. I haven’t seen yours or Wendy’s new bikes yet either, I’ll explain later. 🇦🇺🏍☕️
